28th August 2005

Wind Direction: SW
Wind Stength: 25 knots
Surf / Sea State: 2m? swells in middle
Air Temperature: 18 C
Sea Temperature: OK
Weather: Part cloud part sun

Distance Covered:

Arrived 10.15 to find almost the last parking spot in Rhosneigr. Long hike to beach, masses of sailors out on the water. Rigged 5.3m because that's what most of the sails on the beach were. Good for powering through the lulls on the way out, but a bit overpowered coming back in on the swells.

Stayed away from the break to the right of the rocks because it looked so crowded. Excellent fun blasting out through the swells and trying to ride them back in. Thought about changing down as more 4.5m and 4.0m sails were appearing, and accelerating down the swells with the 5.3 was getting a bit mental. However, some jet skiers decided to join in the fun, plus I was tired, so I packed up and watched the experts in the main break. Watch and learn. Need to work on gybing on the face of the swells to reduce time in the water, and reduce the risk of getting hammered by a breaking face.

Overall an excellent day, surely its not this crowded all the time.
